With over 15 stores in 6 countries, we’re honored to have received the International Growth Award at Tommy Miah’s International Curry Awards in London!
Founded in 1991, Tommy Miah’s Curry Awards aims to promote innovation and quality in ethnic cuisine. Focused on individual talent, the competition recognises individuals that contribute to the cultural diversity of Indian cuisine. Asha’s was among the contenders for the International Growth Award – which commends the local, regional and global growth of a culinary brand.
During 2017, Asha’s Restaurant chain achieved major milestones in our GCC markets. Apart from the new restaurant opening in Manama, Asha’s celebrated its debut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with its first branch opening in Jeddah this year.

On the 9th of October, the Asha’s team were present among acclaimed food writers, restaurant executives, head chefs and restaurant chain founders from across the UK – who served as judges on the panel. In support of its Skye-based charity – Columba 1400 – the awards also had Princess Anne, who serves as the charity’s patron, as a royal guest.
Along with our International Growth Award, we had another winner among us. Our talented chef, Sunil Kumar, was one of the top ten finalists in the Indian Chef of The Year Award, of which there were 10,000 applicants.

Looking forward, Asha’s is excited to further expand our presence in the GCC, with a few more restaurants currently under construction in Jeddah, Riyadh and Manama. Global expansion is also on the cards for us, with the vision of opening our first stores in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong.
A night filled with tasty curries, exceptional service and an overall sense of pride, Tommy Miah’s Curry Awards was a memorable event that will continue to shine in our memories!
