Asha’s Manchester sole Indian restaurant to be named to 2017 Michelin Guide while Dubai bags two TripExpert awards
Asha’s Dubai has added a new accolade to our long list of awards as a recently announced recipient of New York-headquartered travel review site TripExpert’s 2017 Experts’ Choice Awards. The only travel award based on professional reviews, Experts’ Choice reflects recommendations in leading travel guides, magazines and newspapers, and Asha’s Dubai also received TripExpert’s Best of Dubai award with the site noting that ‘travellers can be confident that it is an outstanding choice for dining out in Dubai’.
Asha’s Manchester makes Michelin guide
At the same time, over 5,000 kilometres away and a mere 12 months after opening our doors for business, Asha’s Manchester has been recognised for its contribution to the city’s emerging culinary scene with a listing in the 2017 Michelin Guide. “This is the first and only time that an Indian restaurant has been featured, and is fantastic endorsement not only for the Asha’s brand and our commitment to delivering uniquely authentic North West Indian cuisine with a contemporary flavour, but also of Manchester’s increasingly diverse restaurant landscape,” says Sue Potter, Managing Director, Asha’s Restaurants International Limited. One of only 25 Manchester dining destinations recognised this year, the 100-seater restaurant has also been shortlisted in the upcoming Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards for Best Front of House Team.
Celebrating 15 years of awards
Sister restaurant, Asha’s Birmingham, has been a Michelin regular since 2010, and also received its eighth consecutive listing this year. “Since we opened our first restaurant in Dubai in 2002, Asha’s has consistently garnered diner and industry recognition with more than 50 awards to date. “Our success is underpinned by the talented culinary and front-of-house teams in each of the 13 restaurants in the portfolio but is undoubtedly due to our namesake, Asha Bhosle, who personally supervises the selection and grinding of our signature spice masalas in Mumbai,” says Potter. Asha’s innovative menu of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes celebrates the best of traditional Indian flavours and spices, while providing a modern twist on recipes our guests know and love, using the best fresh and locally sourced ingredients that reinforce our quality and taste promise.
More awards in store for Asha’s?
The second half of this year could see the world’s first global Indian restaurant chain add more trophies to the awards cabinet with Chef Navin Chauhan (Culinary Operations Manager and Chef) being nominated for The 3rd Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards 2017. Chef Ashwani Rangta Asha’s Manchester Head Chef has been shortlisted for the Indian International Chef of the Year Award, which takes place in London this October, and Asha’s Dubai entering multiple categories in the annual Middle East Hospitality Excellence Awards 2017.
